Why can't he give ME some of his fortune? I'll even take a measly million...
Warren Buffet is a good man. He has been instrumental at helping others that are less fortunate for some time. Not only has he worked along with Bill Gates on funding new education programs but he's been insturmental in organizing some business friends and political friends and foes in helping with Bono and www.one.org efforts to drop the debt of the poorest countries, build wells in african countries. Thousands die daily from water born, preventable illness, and Warren's efforts have also contributed with Bill Gates and Bono's to get anti-retroviral drugs to African with HIV, and to gain access to other needed medications for some as simple as malaria - a preventable/curable disease that kills thousands per month on the continent of Africa.
Why all the talk about Africa? Because allowing it to whither will allow it to be the next breeding ground to terrorism. If you want America's stock to rise in the world, Africa is key. It isn't just money down a rat hole. One.org is involved with the distribution of money and aid. It doesn't go into the hands of dictators but into actual aid/help for those that need it.
If we help Africa now, if we relieve them from insumountable debt, provide the anti-retralviral drugs for HIV and malaria drugs, build and provide the means for safe drinking water and build schools - and equally important, create a balanced playing field so that Africa can trade with the rest of the world and build for themselves... We wil have gained a huge friend in the world. We will have shown what REAL care, aid and democracy can achieve and we can keep African's from being preyed upon by those that would love to turn it into the next Afghanistan and point the terrorist finger at the western world for NOT helping them.
THIS and more. That is why the continent of Africa is important.
